Dr. Chiara Trovatello is recipient of the L’Oréal-UNESCO for Women and Science Prize 2024. The 20.000 Euro award supports young, female scientists from Italy who are working in physics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering and technologies.
Currently conducting her research as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellow between Columbia University (New York, USA) and Politecnico di Milano (Italy), her goal is developing and characterizing novel low-dimensional platforms as ultracompact sources of quantum light.
Since the early days of her PhD studies, she has advocated for equal representation and opportunities in STEM, conducting volunteering and mentoring activities, especially for young female scientists.

“I see how important it is to create role models that rewrite history, especially in science. I am grateful to L’Oréal and UNESCO who, through the For Women and Science program, continue to support us, and to support a truly important cause for everyone.”
