that’s my
grandma
Hi! It’s hard to wrap up in a few sentences who I am. I don’t even know how you ended up on this page. Anyway, thanks! I am happy that you’re here.
I love music, it belongs to the deepest core of my heart, and it intersects my passion for guitars since when I was 12 yo. Probably, as much as I love photography — pictures are the poems I don’t wanna forget.
I am from one of the ancient Greek colonies in Italy, where Archimedes was born, you’ve probably heard of Siracusa: a precious gem in the Mediterranean Sea. I grew up swimming around the coast with my mask and my snorkel, and exploring the beauty of this city also underwater. Snorkeling and scuba diving are — at their core — a form of meditation for me. I can’t wait the summer to come every year to get reunited with my waters.
Growing up, I felt a strong drive towards maths, physics, philosophy — and I also loved writing. Don’t ask me how I ended up working in photonics because the only answer I could give is: when I first entered an optics laboratory, it was so dark, I could barely spot the shadows of some people working in there. Just one thing stood out: laser beams, bouncing back and forth from mirror to mirror, passing through lenses, beam splitters, filters, crystals — they were colorful, blue, green, yellow, orange, red.
I just thought that was pretty cool.
And here we are.
Lighting it up.
